Investing in Hands-On Training with Point-of-Care Diagnostic Ultrasounds
Innovetive Petcare Hosts GlobalFAST Workshop in Knoxville, TN
Innovetive Petcare recently hosted a cross-regional GlobalFAST workshop for veterinarians in Knoxville, TN. This training helps our veterinary team enhance point-of-care diagnostic ultrasounds in both primary care and emergency settings with 10 of our leading veterinary practices in attendance. The goal is to build confidence among varying backgrounds, skillsets and techniques of over 18 of our veterinarians.
After completing six learning modules in preparation for the workshop, veterinarians spent the day scanning patients in the systematic and unbiased format termed, GlobalFAST. “FAST” is the acronym for an ultrasound examination called Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma created as a triage and post-interventional screening test (actually coined by human trauma surgeons in the 1990s.) This test quickly morphed into a non-trauma (triage), and monitoring (tracking) point-of-care imaging tool where, “GlobalFAST®,” is now an extension of a physical exam and a new core skill for veterinarians.
Our GlobalFAST training session included abdominal, thoracic, and lung data points which helps our veterinary team provide better accuracy and confidence with point-of-care diagnostic ultrasounds.
Offering ongoing opportunities for our veterinarians to better diagnose patients for positive treatment outcomes remains an important part of our mission and we will continue to host live workshops for our veterinary practices.
